Why does a Payment Channel need a separate key backup?

Opening an XRP Ledger Payment Channel locks XRP and adds owner reserve until the channel closes. Channels are intended for cumulative signed claims, not ordinary one-time wallet payments.

Ondex creates a separate claim key on the device. It is not included automatically in a wallet recovery phrase or cloud backup, so export its encrypted backup before replacing the device, deleting the app, or destroying the local key.

Keep the encrypted backup and its password separate. Losing the only claim key can prevent creation of new claims even though the channel and locked XRP remain on ledger.
